Officials at the Ministry of Justice have confirmed a ‘significant’ cyberattack on the Legal Aid Agency.
A statement from the UK Government said the organisation became aware of the cyber-attack on the online digital services of the agency in April this year and took immediate action to bolster the security of the system, and informed all legal aid providers that some of their details, including financial information, may have been compromised.
Data going back to 2010 is thought to have been exfiltrated, and the consequences for Legal Aid and the wider justice system could be serious.
